Welcome to the Ann Cox Silk Ribbon Website.

Due to the success worldwide of Ann's first two books and much to her delight, Search Press have published The Handbook of Silk Ribbon Embroidery. This is a compilation of A Beginner's Guide to Silk Ribbon Embroidery and Silk Ribbon Embroidery Designs & Techniques. Now both discontinued.
Ann is an established silk ribbon embroidery designer, author and teacher. She is an experienced City and Guilds Further Education Tutor, who has taught many practical crafts over the years. A keen gardener with a love of flowers, it is her attention to detail that captivates all those that see her work. She describes herself as, ' very fortunate, being able to combine all the things I have ever enjoyed doing, creating new techniques and passing these skills onto others'.

Working with Search Press, her publisher, Ann's books are available worldwide, printed in numerous languages and used by colleges, schools and guilds and libraries as reference books. Using a remarkably small number of stitches the books are practical guides, beautifully illustrated with clear step by step photographs and instructions, stitch guides and templates.

Silk ribbon embroidery is unique, quite unlike any other form of embroidery. The silk is a delight to work with, in glorious colours and woven into ribbon is available in 2,4,7,13 and 32mm wide. Threaded into a needle it is stitched exactly the same way as traditional embroidery threads, but unlike threads which are round, ribbon is flat like a fabric. This creates a three dimensional effect and by using different techniques delicately embroidered silk ribbon flowers, from miniature to life size, gives the embroiderer an exciting new dimension.
